Dott has announced that it has reported a substantial increase in the use of its shared e-scooters and e-bikes throughout cities in Europe during 2023. Users of Dott’s services are not only utilising micro-mobility more frequently but are also covering greater distances, marking a significant shift towards the integration of shared micro-mobility into daily routines.

Throughout the year, the average trip distance on Dott’s vehicles witnessed an 8% year-on-year increase against 2022, reaching an impressive 2.47km per trip. This distance is notably more than the typical walking distance, equating to the stretch from London’s iconic Trafalgar Square to St Paul’s Cathedral. The average trip duration also saw a rise of 2%, lasting 11 minutes and 46 seconds on Dott’s shared e-scooters and e-bikes.

As households grapple with financial pressures, the demand for cost-effective transportation solutions has intensified. In 2023, pass usage soared by 50% year-on-year, with more than half (51%) of Dott users opting for passes to save money on their regular micro-mobility usage. This surge in pass adoption indicates a growing commitment among users to integrate Dott’s services into their daily lives.

In total, an impressive 81 million kilometres has been covered on Dott’s 50,000 shared e-scooters and e-bikes over the year, equivalent to circling the globe over 2,000 times. The peak usage time was observed between 17:00-19:00 on weekdays, aligning with the commute hours as people return home from work or venture out for the evening.

Henri Moissinac, Co-Founder and CEO of Dott, said: “The past year has seen a shift in use of our shared services across Europe, with riders choosing us more often and for longer trips. The dramatic rise in pass use shows that once riders discover the convenience and efficiency of our shared e-scooters and e-bikes, they are committing to passes for regular use, and trusting us to deliver a safe and reliable service, everyday.”

In addition to the surge in popularity, Dott has secured competitive tender wins and renewals in major cities throughout 2023. Furthermore, the completion of a refurbishment project involving 18,000 e-scooters aims to double the vehicles’ lifespan and reduce carbon emissions by 50%.
