Stagecoach has announced that around 450 employees from Tower Transit’s Lea Interchange Garage have now joined Stagecoach London’s near 4,000 strong team, as part of a new deal which sees the company take over the operation of around 150 buses under 11 contracts for Transport for London (TfL).

This deal follows Stagecoach’s acquisition of Kelsian Group’s East London bus operations, and will fit with Stagecoach’s existing operations around east and southeast London, where it operates over 1200 buses on behalf of TfL.

Paul Lynch, Regional Director for Stagecoach London, said: “We’re really delighted to welcome all the people from Lea Interchange Garage to our Stagecoach family. We see great potential for them and our new site. Stagecoach has an extensive track record of operating high quality bus services on behalf of TfL around the east and southeast of London, and this builds even further on this success. We’re pleased to be adding Lea Interchange Garage into our portfolio, and we look forward to continuing to work with TfL to support the mayor’s drive to deliver a net zero transport system.“
