Stagecoach welcomes Tower Transit team to its London operations
This new deal will fit with Stagecoach’s existing operations around east and southeast London and will see the company operate 150 buses under 11 contracts for Transport for London.
Stagecoach has announced that around 450 employees from Tower Transit’s Lea Interchange Garage have now joined Stagecoach London’s near 4,000 strong team, as part of a new deal which sees the company take over the operation of around 150 buses under 11 contracts for Transport for London (TfL).
This deal follows Stagecoach’s acquisition of Kelsian Group’s East London bus operations, and will fit with Stagecoach’s existing operations around east and southeast London, where it operates over 1200 buses on behalf of TfL.
Paul Lynch, Regional Director for Stagecoach London, said: “We’re really delighted to welcome all the people from Lea Interchange Garage to our Stagecoach family. We see great potential for them and our new site. Stagecoach has an extensive track record of operating high quality bus services on behalf of TfL around the east and southeast of London, and this builds even further on this success. We’re pleased to be adding Lea Interchange Garage into our portfolio, and we look forward to continuing to work with TfL to support the mayor’s drive to deliver a net zero transport system.“
This announcement follows the news that Stagecoach has officially opened its new customer contact centre, based at its headquarters in Perth in Scotland, in May 2022.
The contact centre was officially launched by the company’s UK Managing Director Carla Stockton-Jones, along with local authorities and industry bodies.
Customers from right across the UK will be able to use the new one-stop phone and digital contact point as of 19 May 2022. The new multi-skilled team of over 60 new customer service advisors and team leaders will operate an improved seven-day a week service and will move to fully extended opening hours on weekdays and weekends, within the year, to align better with how people travel.
