Transdev Canada has announced that it has acquired a substantial investment of nearly $6 million from the Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB). The investment is designated for the electrification of its school bus fleet in Quebec, marking a significant step toward sustainable transportation solutions in the region.

This funding is part of a broader commitment of $400 million allocated to the Fédération des transporteurs scolaires for vehicle electrification, with Transdev Canada slated to receive a total of $12 million by 2026. The added money highlights the company’s commitment to advancing more environmentally friendly projects and reducing carbon emissions.

Transdev Canada’s effort to electrify its school bus fleet is already underway, with 82 electric buses currently operational on Quebec’s roads. The additional investment will support the company’s ongoing efforts to modernise its fleet and aligns with its commitment to sustainability.

Arthur Nicolet, CEO of Transdev Canada, said: “We are delighted to receive this significant investment from the Canada Infrastructure Bank, which will play an important role in our efforts to electrify our school bus fleet. This funding not only supports our commitment to environmental sustainability, but also enables us to provide safer, more efficient and quieter transportation options for the students and communities we serve.”

The financing reflects the government’s proactive stance on investing in sustainable infrastructure projects. By supporting initiatives like the electrification of school buses, policymakers aim to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, enhance air quality and foster a healthier environment for future generations.

Transdev Canada remains committed to providing efficient, environmentally-conscious services to the communities it serves. The electrification of its school bus fleet represents a milestone in the company’s broader strategy to embrace cleaner, more sustainable transportation alternatives.

The collaboration between Transdev Canada and the CIB underscores the importance of partnerships with stakeholders in stimulating positive change and promoting sustainable practices within the transportation sector.
