As part of the contract, Keolis will operate and maintain a large portion of Orange County’s bus service, aiming to enhance transportation, improve reliability and increase ridership.

Keolis has announced that it has been awarded a significant contract by the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) to operate and maintain a large portion of its fixed route bus service in Orange County, California. This contract consists of 209 vehicles operating on 36 routes from the Anaheim and Irvine/Sand Canyon bases, accounting for about 40% of OCTA’s bus services.
The aim of this contract is to enhance transportation in Orange County by providing an additional 150,000 service hours. With a population of approximately 3.1 million people, Orange County will benefit from improved reliability and increased ridership under Keolis’ management.
Keolis already has a strong presence in the region with existing contracts in Pomona, Victorville, Van Nuys and Burbank Airport.
As part of the contract objectives, Keolis will implement an employee training plan to maintain a skilled workforce, retain experienced staff and provide reliable and efficient service to the community. The company aims to improve the overall passenger experience and attract more people to choose public transportation.
In addition to the OCTA contract, Keolis has also secured a two-year agreement to operate the paratransit system in San Fernando and Santa Clarita, north of Los Angeles.
In Pomona, Keolis operates and maintains the bus system on behalf of Foothill Transit, serving 14 local routes in the San Gabriel Valley and four express routes to downtown Los Angeles and Pasadena. The fleet of 147 buses in Pomona is powered by alternative energies, such as electricity and compressed natural gas. Keolis will assist Foothill Transit in its transition to hydrogen-powered buses by leveraging its expertise and aiding in the deployment of a hydrogen tank at the Pomona site.
With a four-year contract and an option for a two-year extension, Keolis is dedicated to ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of bus services in Orange County.
