Helbiz expands e-scooter fleet into Miami

Micromobility provider Helbiz has launched its e-scooters in Miami, Florida after opening a Miami-based office and warehouse to run its operations, employing a full-time team to ensure its fleet of scooters are charged, repaired and well-maintained.

“Helbiz has taken a strategic, selective and thoughtful approach to choosing which markets it enters, currently serving over 20 cities around the world,” said Salvatore Palella, founder and CEO of Helbiz. “Miami was an ideal location for us to begin our US journey with its increased demand for more smart, eco-friendly last-mile options. We are thrilled to move into this community and help its residents travel in a safe, affordable and convenient way.”

The Miami pilot programme allows Helbiz to begin operating a fleet of 100 scooters in District 2 of Miami, which includes Morningside, Edgewater, Downtown Miami, Brickell and Coconut Grove. As part of this programme, Helbiz’s micro-mobility platform will offer real-time monitoring and data of its scooters to the city, which will be used to gather information about overall mobility patterns and support the development of necessary infrastructure. Unlock fees will be waived for all users for the duration of the pilot program and each minute will cost $0.15.

Helbiz’s fleet of customised scooters is said tp offer users a safer and more reliable ride, with an 18-month lifespan per scooter. The app is equipped with rider safety information, such as instructions for use, how to conduct a safety check and helmet rules.

Helbiz has said that its proprietary technology allows its geofencing capabilities to be more accurate and precise, and its connected ecosystem of hardware and software, developed from the ground up, enables full transparency and turn-key scalability. Helbiz has also announced that it is committed to being solely powered by 100 per cent renewable energy with zero carbon emissions.
