With the geofencing technology's promise of targeted marketing partnerships, RIPTA aims to enhance transit services and promote widespread access to public transportation through the programme extension.
The extension of the 'Ride Free Central Falls' pilot programme will allow RIPTA to continue using geofencing technology to promote public transport use and explore targeted marketing partnerships until August 2023.
The first six months of RIPTA's year-long programme has seen ridership on the R-Line increase by 40% compared to the previous year, and has brought forth a range of other benefits for both passengers and the operating company.

Upon completion, the new electric charging station will charge up to three electric buses simultaneously and will also feature driver restrooms and various site improvements, including an on-site snow-melt system.
