Fine Gael TD for Dublin North West, Noel Rock, has confirmed that the extension of the Luas to Finglas is in the ‘design and planning phase’ with a preferred route expected to be identified in 2020.
Design work is currently underway to extend the Luas light rail line further into North Dublin.
Fine Gael TD for Dublin North West, Noel Rock, has confirmed that the extension of the Luas to Finglas is in the ‘design and planning phase’ with a suitable route expected to be identified in 2020.
The TD said: “This week I received confirmation that a Transport Infrastructure Ireland team have already begun planning and design work on the project and this work will continue until next year when an emerging preferred route will be identified.
“This route will be subject to public consultation and it is vital that the voices of the community are heard and taken into account.”
Deputy Rock said that the extension would be a massive transformation for the north-west of the city and would make a major difference to the people of the area.
“It has made a huge difference to Cabra and Broombridge and I know it will do the same for Finglas South, West and Finglas Village. This will give Finglas the investment it deserves and needs,” Rock added.
“I will continue to work night and day to ensure that we keep the pressure on early delivery of this vital infrastructural project.”
