A public consultation on the draft Strategy, which includes proposals for cycling, rail, buses and road, has commenced and continues until 16 October.
Larger trams to increase capacity have been introduced onto the Luas Finglas network in Dublin and a public consultation has been launched to gather views on new proposed routes.
The Transport strategy focuses on enhancing the bus network, optimising suburban rail, a proposed new light rail system, and the promotion of walking and cycling.
Fine Gael TD for Dublin North West, Noel Rock, has confirmed that the extension of the Luas to Finglas is in the ‘design and planning phase’ with a preferred route expected to be identified in 2020.
