FlixBus has announced that it is set to make its debut in Finland on 27 July 2023, with the launch of its first connections in the country marking a significant milestone for the company as it extends its services from Central Europe to the northernmost reaches of the continent.
The inaugural green buses will embark on their journey from Warsaw, Poland, making stops at various Finnish cities, including Vaasa, Närpiö, Pori, Rauma, Raisio, Turku, Salo, Espoo and Helsinki. A unique feature of this route is the inclusion of a ferry trip from Tallinn to Helsinki, which will enable passengers to experience both land and sea travel seamlessly.
André Schwämmlein, CEO of Flix, said: “Now that Flix is entering the Finnish market, we’ve reached another great milestone of connecting all continental EU countries. By widening our offer, we are further realising our mission to offer affordable and sustainable travel options to everyone. We believe that by providing convenient transportation on a global scale we will revolutionise the travel market. Especially now that people are more aware and concerned about their environmental impact, we want to create opportunities for them to choose collective transport and reduce their carbon footprint.”
By co-operating with local bus partners in Finland and other parts of the world, FlixBus ensures smooth daily operations and maintains its reputation as a trusted carrier with modern buses equipped with top safety systems. This latest expansion allows passengers from Finland to access various European cities like Berlin, Vienna and Bratislava, making travel more convenient and accessible.
The first line to Finland will be operated by the Lithuanian transport company, Ollex, in collaboration with the ferry operator, Tallink. This partnership allows passengers to combine bus and ferry trips on a single ticket, streamlining the reservation process and enhancing travel experiences.
In addition, FlixBus is celebrating its third anniversary of operations in the Baltic states in Summer 2023. Since its launch in July 2020, the company has connected 268 cities in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to a staggering 292 European destinations.
The arrival of FlixBus in Finland not only connects Finnish cities with each other but also integrates Finland into the larger European travel network.
