FlixBus has announced a new partnership with Stanley Travel, a family-owned operator based in the UK. Beginning on 25 May 2023, Stanley Travel will join FlixBus’s extensive network, providing daily services between Newcastle, Leeds, Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Manchester.

Stanley Travel, established in 1961 as a taxi firm, has garnered a strong reputation over the years. Currently in its third generation of management by the Scott family and headquartered in Stanley, County Durham, the company has diversified its operations to include coaches for private hire, contracts with local schools and colleges, sports teams and universities. This diversification has played a vital role in the company’s success, particularly during the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the first DVSA Earned Recognition operator on the FlixBus network, Stanley Travel upholds high standards for drivers and vehicles. The company adheres to rigorous compliance regimes and strict safety regulations, subject to regular regulatory checks. Furthermore, Stanley Travel is a member of the Guild of British Coach Operators.

Andreas Schorling, Managing Director of FlixBus UK, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Stanley Travel to the FlixBus network. [Its] glowing reputation among the industry is well-deserved, and we have seen [its] commitment to delivering excellence in operations through [its] accolades and achievements. Stanley already has strong relationships with some of our other key partners, and it’s fantastic to see our network of operators supporting each other.”

Stanley Travel’s Transport Manager, Gavin Scott, said: “We know the value of spreading risk, particularly after the COVID years. That’s what initially attracted us to FlixBus express work, offering another string to our bow in terms of revenue. The team at FlixBus truly listened to us and did everything to make this work for Stanley Travel, as well as themselves.”

FlixBus has experienced significant growth worldwide, serving over 60 million passengers across 40 countries and four continents in 2022. With subsidiaries such as FlixTrain, Greyhound in North America, and Kamil Koç in Turkey, FlixBus continues to deliver transport services with its innovative technology and ambitious expansion plans.
