Voi e-scooters integrated into German ride-hailing service

Micromobility operator Voi has partnered with FREE NOW, the ride-hailing joint venture between BMW and Daimler Mobility headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, to offer a wider range of mobility services by integrating its e-scooters into the FREE NOW app. The cities of Munich and Berlin will follow in the coming weeks, and more third-party services are expected to be launched during the summer.

By adding this easy and straightforward way of travelling the city, we want to expand the freedom of choice for our customers. It’s our aim to make mobility available for everyone in any situation,” said Alexander Mönch, General Manager of FREE NOW Germany & Austria.

Users log in with their existing FREE NOW ride-hailing account and tap the scooter icon on the main screen to find a scooter nearby. After the ride, the user has to find a safe parking spot and end the ride in the FREE NOW app.

“We need intelligent traffic solutions for urban areas in order to tackle the tense traffic situation. Mobility options need to be more diverse so that consumers have a real alternative to their own car. With a strong partner like Voi we can offer our customer-base a new, sustainable and flexible service in three important German cities,” Mönch said.

Voi has stressed that, due to the current situation, hygiene is more important than ever. All Voi scooters are disinfected on a daily basis in addition to the usual cleaning schedule when they are taken in for charging or maintenance.
