Nobina has announced that it has been awarded a new contract by Midttrafik to operate and develop city transport services in Horsens and the surrounding areas, in the island of Jutland in Denmark.
In line with the company’s commitment to providing sustainable transit, all services will be operated by electric buses once the contract takes into effect in June 2023.
The contract will last for a period of 10 years, with an option to extend the agreement for an additional four years, and comprises a total of 17 scheduled electric buses. In order to ensure the security and comfort of passengers, all buses will be equipped with security cameras, as well as Wi-Fi and USB chargers.
“We are proud and pleased to again collaborate with Midttrafik. Together, and with shared ambitions, we have an opportunity to continue to develop sustainable and safe journeys,” said Bram Lauwers, Business Area Director at Nobina Denmark.
This news follows the recent announcement that Nobina has been awarded a new contract by Østfold Kollektivtrafikk – the county agency responsible for administrating public transport in Østfold – to operate and develop public transport services in Fredrikstad and Sarpsborg, including the surrounding areas in Viken County, Norway.
Starting from 1 July 2023, the company will operate a fleet of 139 electric and biogas-fuelled buses in the two Norwegian cities and the surrounding area for a period of 10 years.
Nobina is the Nordic region’s largest public transport operator, with 13,000 employees across four countries – Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.
