Icelandic tour bus fleet Gray Line to offer on-board infotainment system and Wi-Fi
Gray Line Iceland’s partnership with Mobile Onboard provides bus passengers with a new infotainment system and Wi-Fi connectivity across the fleet…
Mobile Onboard uses the Beam bw280 Wi-Fi system, which allows Gray Line Iceland’s passengers to access Wi-Fi connectivity and complementary videos throughout the tours.
Furthermore, BeamTV, the Beam bw280’s built-in infotainment media server, allows passengers to watch tour videos on the built-in entertainment systems, but also on their own smart devices.
Gray Line Iceland have utilised the bw280’s built-in GPS capabilities to automatically play location specific videos as their buses progress along the routes; adding much more context to key locations on the tours.
A fleet of 90 buses accumulates a considerable amount of video content that needs to be managed. The Beam CDS (Content Distribution Service), configured by Mobile Onboard’s LABs team to meet Gray Line Iceland’s requirements, allows the Gray Line office to easily manage all the video content remotely across their whole fleet.
With the Beam Content Distribution Service they have the flexibility to choose which vehicles have which video content, allowing them to add, remove and update by individual bus, groups of buses or across the whole fleet.
Corbin Adler, Mobile Onboard, added: “It is important to us that not only do our systems perform extremely well but that they are also open to being easily configured to an operator’s specific requirement. Our in-house LABS team along with our beamCARE services have done a great job in providing Gray Line Iceland with an infotainment and passenger Wi-Fi system that adds more value to their tours.”
