Solaris Bus & Coach S.A. has signed a contract with municipal operator, In-der-City-Bus GmbH, for the supply of five new Solaris Urbino 12 electric buses in Frankfurt am Main. This is another order for battery vehicles secured by the Polish firm on the German market…

The drive consists of an axle with two electric engines and the power needed for propulsion will be stored in batteries, boasting a capacity of 240kWh. One charger will be delivered per bus and the vehicles will be charged by means of a stationary charger, supplied by Medcom, which will allow the buses to charge with a power of 40kW.
As well as the technological novelties applied to the drive construction of the buses, the Bolechowo-based manufacturer also used numerous solutions to improve the comfort and safety of passengers on board the vehicle. The Solaris Urbino 12 will be fitted with an air conditioning system, which efficiently regulates the temperature of the whole vehicle, energy-saving LED interior lighting and a comprehensive passenger information system comprising of 3 LCD screens. The producer will also install USB ports which will enable passengers to recharge their mobile devices mid-ride. The vehicles for In-Der-City-Bus GmbH will also provide access to Wi-Fi.
The bus will be able to carry up to 70 passengers at a time, with 28 of them on seats. Two additional folding seats will be installed in the space reserved for wheelchair-users, prams or pushchairs.
The supply of all five Solaris Urbino 12 electric buses to Frankfurt has been scheduled for mid-2018.
