Through its expansion to India in early 2024, FlixBus aims to provide sustainable and convenient long-distance bus services, while contributing to the country’s sustainable travel industry and economic growth.

FlixBus has announced its plans to expand its operations to India, with the first intercity green lines slated to launch in 2024. Following successful ventures in Europe, the Americas and Turkey, FlixBus aims to provide affordable, sustainable and safe long-distance bus services in India. "I’m excited to share that India will join the Flix network as the 42nd country worldwide. Our mission is to offer affordable and sustainable travel options for everyone, and we see significant demand for such services in India," said André Schwämmlein, Co-founder and CEO of Flix. "We are confident that our unique business model to work with small and medium-sized local bus partners and our technology for planning, booking operations and pricing will be a winning match also in India. With our strong focus on standardisation and safety, we will build the most competitive bus network in this region." FlixBus employs cutting-edge technology to digitise the traditional bus industry, ensuring consistent quality, safety and convenience for passengers. Amenities such as free Wi-Fi, comfortable seats, air-conditioning, power sockets and cleanliness are also provided. The introduction of a seat reservation system across all markets is also in the works. The company pursues profitable and responsible growth, championing alternative drives like bio-gas, electric and solar panel buses to achieve full decarbonisation. FlixBus sees India's commitment to electric vehicles as an opportunity to contribute to the sustainable travel industry and infrastructure development. Furthermore, FlixBus aims to create jobs and drive economic growth by entering the Indian market. While the company oversees technology, customer service and other aspects, local partners will handle day-to-day operations. According to FlixBus, this business model fosters the growth of local companies, creates employment opportunities and boosts tourism and tax income. FlixBus has started establishing a local team in India, led by Surya Khurana as the country Managing Director. With industry experience, Khurana and the Delhi-based team will actively seek employees and local bus partners to establish the company's operations in India.
