In order to improve scalability and quality of service, Renfe has announced the allocation of significant investment in preparation for a new ticketing system.

Spanish rail operator Renfe has announced that it has approved a total investment of €234 million to tender for a new omnichannel ticketing platform that improves scalability and offers new features in all channels.
The objective is to implement a new sales system that overcomes the limitations of the current Renfe platform and improves the quality of service in the peaks of demand that occur in promotions or sales seasonality, and that allows new functionalities such as the price calendar.
The new system that is tendered must be an open, scalable and efficient technological platform, based on new technologies – such as the public cloud – and that meets Renfe‘s business needs.
Thus, it is intended that it allows new functionalities and integrations with other systems, and that it can better assume the peaks of demand through a scalable architecture.
