Leicester’s £7.84 million grant is the result of the city council’s successful bid for a share of £60 million of DfT funding for schemes in 2019/20.
Cities and regions across the UK are bidding for a share of £1.2 billion of DfT funding for schemes that support the local economy and improve air quality.
The funding is part of the £1.7 billion Transforming Cities Fund and could be used for a number of purposes, not limited to the improvement of bus, cycle and tram routes.
