Mohamed also emphasises the significance of public transport as an essential driver of economic growth and job creation, especially in urban centres.

Then, we consider the significance of diversity as a driving force for innovation and sustainable growth within the public transport industry, with Mohamed highlighting how a diverse and inclusive workforce fosters resilience within the sector. He emphasises that embracing diversity is not just a moral imperative, but also a strategic advantage that enhances the sector’s ability to adapt to changing demographics and evolving customer demands.

Mohamed Mezghani UITPMohamed Mezghani has over 30 years of experience in public transport and urban mobility. He is the current Secretary General of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP), having previously served as Deputy Secretary General. He held roles as Senior Manager and Knowledge Director at UITP, leading knowledge-related services for members. Mohamed also worked as an independent consultant and adviser to UITP on technical assistance and training projects in Africa and the Middle-East, managing diverse expert teams.
