Virtuo, the mobile-only car rental service launches in Edinburgh

Virtuo, the mobile-only car rental service, has launched its first Scottish rental location in Edinburgh, offering tourists and locals a new way to explore the city, Scotland and beyond.

The Mercedes A-Class and GLA cars will be available at Q-Park Omni car park, a short walk from Edinburgh Waverley, and bring Virtuo’s UK fleet to a total of more than 250 premium vehicles. The cars are bookable with prices in Edinburgh starting from £43 per day for an A-Class or a GLA, based on a 5-day rental.

The Virtuo app allows users to seamlessly register, book and unlock one of Virtuo’s brand new premium Mercedes A-Class or GLA vehicles. The app walks users through every step of the rental process from locating your car, to submitting a digital damage report, and provides renters with real-time fuel and mileage information, among a whole host of other features.

Michael Altom, General Manager UK, France and Belgium at Virtuo, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be expanding to our first location in Scotland. Edinburgh is one of the most exciting, vibrant and populous cites in the UK. Locals and visitors alike now have a seamless and hassle-free way to explore everything the city and surrounding Highlands have to offer, without the hassle of getting to a car rental desk or forking out for multiple train tickets.”

The launch comes as part of Virtuo’s wider pan-European expansion, following a successful €20 Million Series B fundraise led by Balderton Capital, Iris Capital and Raise Ventures, earlier this year.

The company launched in London in the summer of 2018, bringing its seamless mobile-only rental offering to drivers in the UK for the first time after much success in its native France. It now has 13 locations at airports and train stations across the UK including: London Heathrow, Victoria, Waterloo, King’s Cross and Stratford International, and Manchester Piccadilly.
