UITP opens two new Regional Training Centres in Shenzhen and Istanbul and welcomes members who wish to partner on delivering training courses.
Shenzhen Bus Group and Marmara Municipalities Union have partnered with UITP on two new Regional Training Centres for three years, and will each organise at least four training programmes per year.
Istanbul and Shenzhen are ideal locations due to the excellent respective BRT systems in Istanbul and an extensive growing metro network in both cities. Shenzhen also has a strong electric bus and e-taxi sector.
The training programmes will be delivered in cooperation with UITP Regional Training Centres and will help people fulfil their career potential in the sector of public transport and sustainable mobility.
“UITP strongly believes in the role of our members and the benefits of capacity building for the whole sector. Partnering with UITP in this way will provide a great opportunity to continue to shape the world of public transport and obtain the numerous benefits of hosting UITP trainings. I encourage others with a vested interest in developing their careers, to join the collaboration,” said Kaan Yildizgoz, UITP Senior Director, Membership, Marketing and Services.
UITP organises training programmes in nearly 60 different countries and these initiatives will help to expand the global footprint and provide opportunity to share experience of local partners with participants coming from different countries.
The trainings planned for 2019 under the Shenzhen Regional Training Centre include topics such as service excellence; on-demand bus and shared services; bus planning and execution; and electric buses.
The Istanbul Regional Training Centre will have programmes in 2019 focused on tendering and contracting; ticketing and fare collection; RAMS (reliability, availability, maintainability and safety) for urban rail; and BRT planning and operations.
