Metrolink has introduced Apple Pay onto the Metrolink mobile ticketing app, meaning it is now easier to avoid traffic and purchase a ticket for commuter rail services.

The addition of Apple Pay enables customers to purchase tickets with one tap; eliminating the need to input credit card numbers, billing info or security codes to complete a transaction.

Apple Pay is fast, secure and part of a technology transformation investment Metrolink has made over the past seven months, which includes a new website, GPS train tracker and ‘Scan & Go’, which allows Metrolink App users to scan their phones at Metro Rail gates; seamlessly continuing their journeys.

“Currently, more than 40 per cent of our riders are using the Metrolink mobile app to buy their tickets, benefiting from convenience and time savings,” said Metrolink Chair, Andrew Kotyuk. “As part of our focus on customer service, we are adding Apple Pay so customers have even more choice.”

Apple Pay is easy to set up and users will continue to receive all of the rewards and benefits offered by credit and debit cards.

The Metrolink App is powered by Masabi’s ‘Justride Mobility Platform’.

“We’re very excited to offer Apple Pay as another payment option to Metrolink commuter rail riders,” said Brian Zanghi, CEO of Masabi. “Our primary goal at Masabi is to increase the convenience of public transit and making payments as seamless as possible is one way we further that mission.”
