Belgrade City Council signed a contract to install and operate AFC and VTS for 2000 buses...
Belgrade City Council of Republic of Serbia signed a contract to install and operate Automated Fare Collection (AFC) and Vehicle Tracking Systems (VTS) for 2000 buses on the 21st of September 2010, with Apex Technology Solutions which is formed in partnership of Kentkart, Turkey and Lanus, Serbia.
New system will enable Belgrade public bus transportation company, GSP, the following services for 10 years; Secure fare collection, better planning and scheduling, fleet management, real time vehicle tracking and passenger information, distance based fare tariff application, financial back office and clearing system, along with complete system maintenance and operation.
Kentkart will supply; 8000 validators in 2000 buses to provide a distance based check-in/check-out system, nearly 800 kiosk offices will be activated with contactless terminals for the sales and recharging of smartcards. Conductors will also be able to inspect the payments and tariffs, with Kentkart’s state of the art PDA’s, equipped with contactless smart card readers. The system is planned to be functional by 2011.
Kentkart delivered AFC, VTS and Passenger Information systems for public transportation operators to 20 cities, in total of 8 countries around the world, including Turkey, Poland, Macedonia, Qatar, Jordan, Syria, Kosovo and finally in Serbia. Kentkart gives mobility via 8 million smart cards to more than 1 billion passengers, annually.
Kentkart is announced as finalist for the “Most Innovative Software Application in 2010 SESAMES AWARDS” with its “Infinite Kentkart” solution. Kentkart won the Sesames award in 2000 for the Best Transportation Application and was the finalist again in 2007 for the same category.
