The acquisition forms part of the Naples Metro project which is financed by public funds amounting to €98 million.
The wider transportation investment programme has been designed to improve the quality and the quantity of services available to commuters and reduce congestion within the densely populated city of approximately 3 million inhabitants.
The project incorporated the extension of metro line 1 creating a ring-shaped line which connects downtown Naples to its surrounding municipalities.
CAF is continuing to expand its operations in Italy with a range of vehicles and services. The company has already supplied 71 units for the Rome Metro since 2002.
