Transdev has announced that it has inaugurated its cutting-edge green depot on the outskirts of York, signalling a bold outlook on future growth. The newly unveiled facility in Rawcliffe sets a high standard with its innovative features and commitment to environmental responsibility.

The sprawling complex includes an in-house training Academy, designed to attract and nurture top talent for the company’s driving and engineering teams. Notably, the depot boasts a 28% reduction in carbon emissions compared to governmental standards from 2013, achieved through the integration of renewable technologies like solar panels, air source heat pumps and advanced energy-saving measures.

In addition, the site enhances biodiversity through strategic planting and installation of nesting boxes for birds and bats, fostering a thriving ecosystem. Forward-thinking infrastructure also includes charging facilities for light electric vehicles, with future-proof provisions for a complete transition to electric buses.

Key components of the facility include a state-of-the-art engineering workshop equipped with cutting-edge vehicle lifting gear and diagnostic tools, ensuring optimal maintenance standards. The emphasis on staff welfare extends to energy-efficient office spaces, reflecting Transdev’s holistic approach to sustainability.

It gives our people the best purpose-designed facilities to work with, and will help us to attract and retain the best people at this impressive new base which is ideally placed for future expansion.”
