RATP welcomes final train of the MP05 metro contract

Elisabeth Borne, President of RATP and Henri Poupart-Lafarge, President of Alstom Transport, celebrated the 67th train of the MP05 metro contract Alstom’s Valenciennes Petite-Forêt site.

The contract originally signed in 2005 by RATP and Alstom, consisted of 67 trains intended for line 1 and 14 of the Paris Metro. As many as 60 MP05 trains are currently in circulation and have already covered over 12 million kilometres.

RATP and Alstom contract introduced 67 MP05 vehicles to Line 1 and Line 14 of the Paris Metro

The introduction of the MP05 vehicle was designed to replace manually-driven MP89 trains on Line 1 of the network followed by line 14. Every train can transport up to 1014 passengers at maximum speeds of 80 km/h. Each train is 90 metres long and composed of 6 cars, each one equipped with 3 doors on either side. According to Alstom, the vehicle was designed to put emphasis on passenger comfort including circulation between cars, cool ventilation, large windows, passenger information, reduced motor noise and video surveillance.

Five Alstom Transport sites in France have worked on this project: Valenciennes for the design and production, Tarbes for elements of the power train, Ornans for the motors, Le Creusot for the bogies and Villeurbanne for the on-board information system and passenger information.
