Dott, a leading European micro-mobility company, has announced that it is offering free e-scooter trips to help people to move around London during the ongoing fuel shortage issues in the UK.

From 28 September 2021, Dott’s fleet of e-scooters across London will be made available offering unlimited free trips to NHS health care workers until 10 October 2021, and two free trips for all other riders.

As queues build outside petrol station forecourts, subsequently causing gridlock around London, Dott is providing an environmentally friendly way to get across the city, free from congestion and without causing pollution.

According to the BBC, panic buying at petrol stations has led to some key workers – including health care workers – struggling to get the fuel that they need to travel to their work. The surge in demand for fuel came after fears that HGV driver shortages would hit supplies of petrol and diesel.

In order to support NHS health care workers who may be facing difficulties in getting to work or to alternative public transportation as fuel supplies run low in some petrol stations, Dott is offering free trips on its service until 10 October 2021.

Free trips are also available to anyone that may be finding it difficult to get where they need to be. Two free rides will be offered to all users of Dott, helping them to get to and from an appointment, work or to visit friends and family across London.

This is really frustrating for private owners like myself. I want to be able to use my e-scooter in place of my bicycle for trips I’d rather not be sweaty for and this fuel crisis seems like a great excuse to get on the road with it in the city I live in but still we are faced with the possibility of being prosecuted for such an out-of-touch offence that doesn’t reflect the changed world we live in.
