MTA appoints Frank Annicaro to lead Department Of Buses

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has formally announced that Frank Annicaro has assumed the role of Acting President of MTA Bus Company. Annicaro, a transportation industry veteran of more than three decades, began serving in the role earlier this month. He will double as Acting Senior Vice President of New York City Transit’s Department of Buses.

Annicaro has spent the last 18 years working in Bus Operations. His portfolio during that time encompasses a wide range of leadership functions. He has served as the Chief Maintenance Officer and been accountable for maintaining the entire MTA fleet of buses and non-revenue vehicles. Annicaro has managed multiple new bus procurement contracts and warranties. He’s also helped lead the organisation’s efforts to transition to a Zero Emission fleet by 2040.  Prior to joining the MTA, Annicaro spent over a decade in the private sector specializing in logistic services.

In total, MTA Regional Bus Operations runs more than 300 bus routes, including more than 70 express routes and 20 Select Bus Service routes. The Authority maintains and operates a 24/7 fleet of nearly 6,000 buses, which is the largest municipal fleet in the U.S.
