NEC Corporation India partners with Mowasalat to integrate smart transportation solutions for tournament bus services in Qatar.
Enabling seamless travel solutions to people thronging to the biggest sporting attraction and high voltage football tournament in Qatar, NEC Corporation India, collaborated with Mowasalat for implementing Intelligent Transportation Management Solutions (ITMS) in the special Tournament Bus Services (TBS). The ITMS system, installed in 3000 buses, including 800 E buses, connects millions of fans to the eight stadiums in the country.
Mowasalat is the biggest bus operator in Qatar and NEC India partnered with them for the implementation of ITMS for Tournament Bus Service (TBS), and help enable best-in-class public transportation experience to millions of Football admirers from all over the world.
Under TBS many different services like Stadium Express, Corniche Shuttle, Workforce buses etc are operated by Mowasalat. In Stadium Express service itself, around 2.4 million fans used these buses till group stage of the tournament. In terms of peak load, in a day 2700 buses were in operations ferrying around 88 thousand passengers.
With this, we have been able to radically transform the commute experience for millions of football fans. With this project, we aim to empower the operators and the travellers to be better informed and make safe and smarter use of transport networks.
Multiple modules like Fleet Management System (FMS), Vehicle Planning & Scheduling (VPS), Automatic Passenger Counting (APC), Passenger Information System (PIS), CCTV Cameras along with mDVR for Bus Surveillance and Driver Behaviour & Performance Monitoring, Mobile Apps for Drivers, Operators etc and Business Intelligence (BI) System having multiple dashboards for senior executives, operators etc have been implemented end to end (Including Hardware, Software and Integration) by NEC for 3000 buses. Apart from integration of all these systems with each other two other unique integrations i.e. Planning system integration with EV charging infrastructure and FMS integration with SAP, have also been implemented to provide integrated view to the management.
