Bus journeys have been boosted for passengers in St Helens, thanks to a fleet of brand new buses being unveiled by Arriva Merseyside.


The 16 new Optare Solo SR buses represent a £1.6million investment by Arriva
The 16 Optare Solo SR buses officially hit the roads on Monday 30th July and are operating across all of Arriva’s local town services in and around St Helens.
The new vehicles represent a £1.6million investment by Arriva delivering a number of benefits, all are fitted with low floors for easy access and the latest engine technology, making them more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly.
Howard Farrall, area managing director for Arriva Merseyside, said: “We are delighted to unveil the buses, which represent a significant investment in the services we provide in and around St Helens.
“The introduction of these new vehicles means that all of our buses in St Helens now have low floor access, making it easier and more comfortable for passengers to travel with us, and an improved journey experience overall.”
