New Volvo coach for Doig’s Platinum Service

The latest addition to the Doigs of Glasgow Platinum Service is a new high specification Volvo B9R coach with Sunsundegui bodywork.

Doig’s purchased the new 13 metre, 2 axle coach to supplement their existing fleet, working across a range of high-end private hire contracts.

Specified with Volvo’s D9 9.4 litre engine, rated at 380hp, coupled to the I-Shift gearbox, the new B9R is fitted with the stylish Sunsundegui bodywork and also sports Alcoa Durabright wheels.

The new coach has been liveried with a special Platinum Service design to mark Doig’s 21st year anniversary.

Featuring 53 full leather seats, with three point safety belts, air-conditioning, demountable toilet and four TV screens linked to an on-board DVD player, the coach boasts a luxurious interior. Doig’s also have the choice to transform their coach into a 45 seater at their will by deploying the full size table layout option.

The new vehicle is also specified with built-in reversing camera to support the driver and on-board CCTV cameras to provide added security for passengers.

Over half of the Doig’s fleet of 20 vehicles are built on the Volvo Bus chassis, demonstrating Doig’s strong relationship with the manufacturer.

“When the requirement came about to purchase a new coach for our Platinum Service the Volvo B9R seemed the obvious choice,” explained Doig’s Director, Iain Forsyth. “We like the Volvo Sunsundegui combination on the B9R and we have a great relationship with Volvo Bus and their Regional Sales Manager, Duncan Crosby.”

“We particularly liked the high specification of this particular vehicle and the fact that we could adjust the seating to allow us to use full size tables if required. Also the aftermarket support we get with Volvo is important, because it gives us the reassurance we need on our private hire contracts.”
