The contract is valued at approximately €29 million. The agreement includes an option for the delivery of another four vehicles. Vehicle delivery is scheduled between July 2012 and January 2013.

The 12 trams will be manufactured at the Bombardier Bautzen site. Bombardier’s Siegen plant is responsible for delivering the bogies. The Mannheim site will provide the vehicle’s electrical equipment.

The bi-directional vehicles are 21.9m-long (via coupling) and 2.3m-wide. The trams are designed for 1,000mm gauge tracks and can also be used in double traction service.

Designed with rigid axle bogies, the FLEXITY vehicle concept guarantees a smooth ride with reduced noise. The FLEXITY vehicles will be equipped with the proven and reliable MITRAC propulsion & control system.

Proven and tested, as well as technically advanced, standard components ensure a safe and efficient revenue service. The tram accommodates 121 passengers and has been customised for the requirements of the City of Halle.
