UKTram has confirmed the appointment of James Hammett to the role of Managing Director.

New Managing Director for UKTram

James, who has been General Manager at UKTram for the past four years, will bring his extensive knowledge and experience in the tram and light rail industry to his new position and will play a key role in developing and growing the organisation further.

James will take over as Managing Director from Colin Robey who formally stepped down after the industry body’s recent Board meeting.

Colin Robey has been Managing Director for four years and played a critical part in overseeing the changes in the constitution of UKTram, and in chairing the Executive and Guidance, Standards, Safety & Assurance Group meetings. Colin will continue to chair the Guidance, Standards, Safety & Assurance Group and will remain as a Director of UKTram.

The organisation’s Chairman, Geoff Inskip, said: “We cannot thank Colin enough for the dedication, passion and enthusiasm he has given UKTram and our industry over many years. He will be greatly missed by his colleagues, fellow Board members and an enormous range of contacts in tram and light rail businesses. We look forward to the success of both James and Colin’s revised positions within UKTram and I am personally very hopeful and excited for our next chapter.”
