Two Solaris 8.9 electric buses have been ordered by transport operator, Thau Agglo for Frontignon in France.

France

Located on the south coast of France, Frontignon will receive two emission-free vehicles that will use the traditional plug-in 80kWh charger (delivery of which is part of the contract) to charge their 160kWh High Energy batteries.

Both buses will also be equipped with comfort and safety-enhancing features such as air conditioning, ecological LED lightening and monitoring system.

This order follows successful tests of the 8.9 meter Solaris buses which took place in the city in the beginning of 2017 and raises the total amount of battery buses contracted by Solaris to 116 in eight European countries (with this order being the first for Solaris in France).

Environmentally-friendly public transport is at the forefront of Solaris’ interest, with the company investing in the development of electromobility by introducing new and more ecologically-friendly technologies. The culmination of these efforts resulted in the ‘Bus of the Year 2017’ title, won by the new Solaris Urbino 12 electric bus.

Delivery of the two buses is expected by December 2017.
