Guadalajara metro Line 3 will soon take delivery of its first Metropolis trainset following shipment from Alstom’s factory in Barcelona, Spain.
As part of a €380m contract signed in December 2014 with Secretaria de Comunicaciones y Transportes (SCT), Alstom has shipped the first of 18 Metropolis trainsets for operation on Guadalajara’s metro Line 3 in Mexico. The new vehicles will travel the 20.9 km line, operated by Sistema de Tren Electrico Urbano (SITEUR), via Zapopan, Guadalajara and Tlaquepaque. The metro will transport approximately 230,000 passengers daily.

Remaining Guadalajara Line 3 Metropolis trainsets delivered by end of November
Made up of three coaches each, the Metropolis metro trains are equipped with air conditioning, video surveillance and passenger information systems. The vehicle also incorporates improved access for disabled travellers.
The remaining 17 metros will arrive in Mexico by the end of November 2016.
As part of the contract, Alstom will also supply a CBTC control system for automatic drive and communication.
