Chemnitzer Verkehrs (CVAG), the Chemnitz transport company, has awarded a €35 million contract to Škoda for the supply of 14 Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs) for operation in the city of Chemnitz, replacing the city’s ageing Tatra trams.

Škoda will deliver the stainless steel, bi-directional, low-floor ForCity trams from summer 2018 with final deliveries in summer 2019.
The five section 33 metre long and 2.65 metre wide ForCity Alfa trams, built at Škoda’s Plzen plant in the Czech Republic, will be equipped with three driven bogies and feature air-conditioning in both the cabs and passenger compartments and have floor heating. In addition, there will be four areas for wheelchairs and seating for 64 people. Overall, the vehicles will accommodate 192 passengers
