OSPT Alliance welcomes Prokart, the automated fare collection (AFC) system operator, as an Associate Member.
OSPT Alliance is an international association that provides an open standard for secure transit fare collection solutions. The association aims to build a global ecosystem of transit operators, transit consultants and integrators, technology solution providers, and government agencies to stimulate development.
Russian based Prokart launched its AFC system ‘Odin Bilet’ or ’One Ticket’, in 2014 within the city of Perm. The project currently features 600 public transport vehicles and serves 150,000 passengers daily. The operator hopes to expand the programme further by introducing ‘Odin Bilet’ across the entire public transport infrastructure. Prokart has identified the CIPURSE™ open standard as the next step in achieving its short and long-terms goals. The system offers an advanced foundation for establishing interoperable fare collection systems and, according to OSPT Alliance, will provide passengers and transport operators in Perm with a sustainable and interoperable solution for all transportation tickets across the region.
Denis Gvozdev, CEO of Prokart, comments on the membership: “The transport industry desperately needs a future-proofed solution that can provide advanced functionality and security. “Our company shares the philosophy of OSPT Alliance that the evolution of fare collection for public transportation is reliant on open standards.
“Our short-term plan is to implement our AFC solution, based on the CIPURSE standard, across all transportation activities in Perm and to expand our presence and services in other adjacent fields. Fundamentally, our key priority is to improve the convenience and efficiency of transactions for public transport operators and passengers, by offering a secure and interoperable AFC solution. We are confident that the CIPURSE open standard will enable us to realize this vision.”
Laurent Cremer, Executive Director, OSPT Alliance adds: “OSPT Alliance is delighted to welcome Prokart as an Associate Member. The company’s experience in implementing an AFC system across such a large populace, combined with its knowledge of the Russian transit market, will provide valuable insight to the alliance. We look forward to supporting Prokart in its efforts to expand the ‘Odin Bilet’ project and achieve even greater success.”
