The 15th ITS European Congress 2023 is set to commence on 22 May 2023 in Lisbon, Portugal. This event holds great significance for the transport industry, as it brings together stakeholders to explore the latest innovations in intelligent transportation systems (ITS). With an anticipated attendance of approximately 2,500 individuals representing over 60 countries, the Congress aims to showcase ‘ITS: The Game Changer’.

“ITS innovators, thought leaders and change-makers will gather to shape the future of smart and sustainable mobility in Europe and beyond. The Congress is where we come together under one roof to share ideas, celebrate milestones and plan for the challenges and opportunities ahead. Lisbon is the ideal setting – a multi-modal city with a reputation for new mobility services, and for connected and automated mobility,” said Joost Vantomme, CEO of ERTICO – ITS Europe.

The Opening Ceremony will feature notable speakers, including the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, Herald Ruijters from DG MOVE at the European Commission, and Finnish scientist and astronomer, Esko Valtaoja, as the inspirational speaker.

The Congress offers a comprehensive programme encompassing various activities. Four high-level plenaries will delve into emerging mobility services and trends, while the Smart Mobility Summit of Cities and Regions will facilitate discussions on innovative urban transportation solutions. The Technical Programme, comprising over 100 sessions, will focus on Cooperative, Connected and Automated Mobility (CCAM), Clean & Eco-Mobility, Urban Mobility and Transport & Logistics. Furthermore, the introduction of Strategic Future Sessions (SFS) will explore future opportunities and challenges in the industry.

The Lisbon Conference Centre (CCL) will host the Congress and provide an exhibition hall for live demonstrations of smart mobility solutions from around the world. This environment encourages networking among experts, thought leaders and influencers to foster idea exchange. In addition, the event organisers have planned various social activities and events to enhance the overall experience.

On the final day, 24 May 2023, the Congress will open its doors to the public, offering them the opportunity to engage with the exhibition. This exclusive access allows European citizens to learn about and experience the latest advancements in mobility technologies.

ITS European Congress 2023 aims to be a dynamic and transformative event, propelling the development of smart and sustainable mobility solutions across Europe. By bringing together industry professionals and stakeholders, the Congress strives to contribute to safer, more efficient and environmentally friendly transportation systems.
