French transport operator RATP Dev has won the tender to operate and maintain the urban bus transport network in Augusta, Georgia, for a three-year term (which may be extended to nine) through its US subsidiary, Mc Donald Transit Associates.
The bus network comprises 40 urban and inter-urban lines serving Augusta. Internationally famed for hosting the Masters Golf Tournament, Augusta is also the second-largest metropolitan area in the state of Georgia after Atlanta and the network carries over 700,000 passengers per year.
The award of this contract consolidates the RATP Dev position in its development strategy for the US, which focuses on urban and inter-urban bus transportation, tramways and light rail.
