Transport group Stagecoach has announced that it is to launch new luxury coach services in England and Wales.

From 19 July, new megabusGold.com services will operate – on state-of-the-art vehicles – between London and Plymouth, with one departure in each direction every day of the week.

In addition, the company is launching new luxury coach services between London and Cardiff. There will be four departures in each direction each day, one of which also serves Bristol and one of which serves Cwmbran.

Tickets for the new services can be booked at www.megabusgold.com

The services will operate on state-of-the-art double-deck coaches which boast luxury leather seats with tables, power sockets, free Wi-Fi and a toilet. The specially designed vehicles have 55 seats.

Customer service hosts will provide passengers with first-class at-seat rail-style service, with free hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and snacks,

Elizabeth Esnouf, Managing Director of Stagecoach’s UK Coach division said: “Our luxury coach services in Scotland have proved extremely popular so we are delighted to be introducing them in England and Wales as well. These new links will provide customers with a new luxury travel option.

“More and more people are choosing coach travel as their number one transport option. These new services offer a stress-free journey that takes passengers right to the heart of the city and lets them enjoy luxury travel at affordable prices.”

Scottish Citylink – a joint venture between Stagecoach and international transport group Comfort DelGro – launched its Citylink Gold services in 2010, linking Glasgow with Aberdeen and Inverness.

Research carried out in 2011 showed that, during the first year of operation, showed that 36% of passengers previously travelled by car, with 31% previously taking the train.

The survey showed that 94% of customer said that Citylink Gold offered value for money while nine out of 10 passengers were satisfied/very satisfied with the punctuality of the service.

The new megabusGold.com services are also being operated through the Scottish Citylink joint venture.
