Thales has revealed its innovative M-TOPUP system which will shape the way passengers travel for years to come. M-TOPUP (Mobile Top Up) is the cutting-edge solution for operators, which allows their passengers to recharge their travel cards via their mobile phones without needing to stop at a ticket machine. The M-TOPUP will drastically reduce ticket queues in stations and gives the passenger a more efficient and practical journey.

Thales’s pioneering technology allows passengers to simply go on their transport operator’s application and recharge their respective travel card via a range of payment methods. Payment by PayPal, Visa, MasterCard and even SMS can all be integrated on the system, giving passengers greater freedom in their travel.

“We are delighted to be the first to launch this innovative solution on the market. The key for us was to create a state-of-the-art system that is easily integrated onto any travel operator’s system. This is the latest mobility solution in your pocket, on your smart phone,” explains Laurent Eskenazi, Thales Vice President for Revenue Collection Systems.

Thales is a global player in providing solutions and services for revenue collection systems, notably for public transportation operators, but equally in the road sector (tolls and parking). Every day over 50 million transactions go through Thales systems, installed in over 100 cities in the world. In total, Thales systems deal with $20 billion worth of transactions daily.
