With 249 million passenger journeys having taken place in 2022, the latest figures put Ireland's public transport ridership recovery at 98% of pre-pandemic levels.
Combined with the 20 per cent fare reduction on public transport already in place across the country, public transport costs for young adults will be 60 per cent cheaper until the end of 2022.
This is the final of two sets of fare reductions that have been launched in the country as part of the government’s package to reduce the cost of living, and will take effect from 9 May 2022.
As part of the first phase of the programme to reduce public transport fares across Ireland, TaxSaver fares on on all subsidised PSO public transport services will be reduced by 20 per cent in April 2022.
