New campaign, Connecting Britain, backed by business and political leaders, says a green light on HS2 and Northern Powerhouse Rail is critical to the long-term success of the north of the UK.
The people mover will run every three minutes, gets to Birmingham Airport in six minutes and provides transport for 2,100 passengers per hour meaning more people will benefit from the development.
The UK government has called on more women to consider engineering careers, highlighting the opportunities provided by major infrastructure projects like HS2.
