Moovit and Waze Carpool to offer community-led carpooling

Moovit has partnered with Waze Carpool, Waze’s community-based carpooling service, in a bid allow commuters in the U.S., Brazil, Mexico and Israel to ride together for an affordable and eco-friendly alternative to commuting.

The initial pilot, gradually rolling out to Android users, is said to be unique because of its “by commuters, for commuters”system. Once matched with a Waze Carpool driver, Moovit users can ride-share – with the first ride free for new users.

“As we continue to strive to empower people everywhere to get around with peace of mind, Moovit is constantly offering new mobility solutions for its users,” said Nir Erez, Co-founder and CEO of Moovit. “That is why we are very proud to partner with Waze and launch this joint pilot programme to offer an alternative to their regular commute via everyday carpooling.”

“We are excited to launch our pilot with Moovit and expand the Waze Carpool community,” said Aron Di Castro, Waze Director of Business Development & Partnerships. “Thanks to this partnership, Waze Carpool drivers will be able to connect with even more riders headed their way via the Moovit app, empowering more commuters to enjoy affordable and convenient carpools. By riding together, we can all take cars off the road and help decrease traffic and congestion for everyone.
