After his PhD, he joined McKinsey & Co as an engagement manager. As a consultant he entered the field of public transport, that should become his passion. 3 years later he joined the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB), where he first served as a Head of Alliances and later for over 5 years as the Head of Distribution and Services of SBB’s passenger division. In this role he was responsible for the entire ticketing & retail network of SBB with over 2’000 employees.
In 2013 Gian-Mattia left SBB to establish his own consulting business that formed the basis for the creation of FAIRTIQ Ltd., founded in 2016. As CEO of FAIRTIQ he managed to establish the company as the market leader in smart mobile ticketing within just two years.
