Shane joined Transport for London in 2016 as a Bus Policy Specialist and his work includes analysing future technologies and methodologies for the enhancement of the London bus network. His team are currently partnered with Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Institute for Transport Studies at the University of Leeds to develop a new reliability metric for Buses; Journey Time Variability.
Having played a leading role in developing the bus strategies within the latest Mayor’s Transport Strategy for London, Shane is now committed to ensuring that these are delivered. This will include evaluating Demand Responsive Transport for London and improving the communication of journey disruption and alternative options to bus passengers.
Of his role, Shane said: “We attempt difficult things to make bus use easier and better for Londoners. Public Transport should always be simple, frequent, reliable, comprehensive and cost effective. Intelligent technologies further enable this”.
