There are currently 70,000 urban buses serving a population of over 100 million inhabitants in 24 European countries and over the past 10 years the bus industry has been testing and investing in alternative fuels…
There are currently 70,000 urban buses serving a population of over 100 million inhabitants in 24 European countries and over the past 10 years the bus industry has been testing and investing in alternative fuels.
These fuels includes the likes of bio diesel, LPG, Diesel electric Hybrid, Electric, Hydrogen Fuel Cell, Hybrid Trolleybuses and cleaner Euro V1 Diesel, to help reduce carbon emissions and raise the profile of bus travel.
All vehicle manufacturers now have to produce buses which do not produce emissions more than those established by Euro VI emission level and with the Office of Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) announcing a £30m Low Emission Bus Scheme to further support the purchase of low and ultra-low emission buses by local authorities and transport operators, this is high on the agenda for the bus industries across Europe.
