Developing mobility is a major concern for many European cities and involves a number of challenges, including urban planning, social, cultural, technical and environmental challenges. Facing those challenges, Luxembourg has been particularly committed to implementing an intermodal and innovative mobility strategy.

In pursuit of these goals, the Luxembourg Ministry of Mobility and Public Works and the City of Luxembourg, with the support of Luxtram (the developer and operator of the tramway in Luxembourg), decided to organize Mobil-Lux 2023, a European congress advocating an intercultural approach to future-oriented urban mobility by promoting exchanges between European key players in the mobility sector.

This conference is unique and unprecedented, as German, French and English speaking experts are invited to address a diverse and multicultural audience on the following topics with simultaneous interpretation into and from all three languages:

1. Franco-German projects versus French and German projects
2. The tramway, backbone of tomorrow’s urban mobility
3. Policy prerequisites
4. Involving citizens in the mobility transition
5. Cross-border cooperation / cross-border tram
6. Urban development and mobility: Convergent approaches
7. Pricing
8. Suburban tram
9. Designing and developing a tram network: Challenges and best practices

In addition to these presentations, two panel discussions will welcome politicians/regional authorities and senior representatives of public transport authorities and operators from major Eurometropolises to debate, on one hand, “the impact of the energy crisis in a context of climate change on mobility strategies” and, on the other, “Comprehensive transport strategies in European Member States and beyond”.

The conference will also host a well-located exhibition providing attendees an insight into the know-how and expertise of Mobil-Lux partners in the field of mobility.
