Rachel Geliamassi

Customer Service Director at Great Western Railway

Rachel - GWRRachel Geliamassi is the Customer Service Director at Great Western Railway (GWR), joining the company in March 2024. In this executive role, Rachel oversees GWR’s stations and on-board teams, including 198 managed stations and over 3,000 colleagues, ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer service.

Prior to joining GWR, Rachel served as the Managing Director at Stagecoach West, where she led operations across the West of England and Oxfordshire, managing over 1,500 employees and 550 buses, including Oxford Tube coach services. Rachel began her career in the transport sector in 2007 through a graduate apprenticeship and progressively advanced to become Operations Director of Stagecoach West in 2014.

Rachel is an empathetic and proactive champion of diversity and inclusion and is recognised as a thought leader and role model for a range of wellbeing, EDI and sustainability issues.  

Alongside her role, Rachel is a Board Director for Smartzone in Oxfordshire and is currently setting up enhanced partnership boards within her six county borders, all with the objective of improving sustainable connectivity. Rachel is passionate about partnership and collaboration across the transport sector and is excited to have a leading role in transforming Oxfordshire into an electric bus city.

Additionally, Rachel is an advocate for women in business, a graduate of the Women in Hospitality, Travel and Leisure Female Global Leaders Programme, and a member of multiple business communities.
